I should have taken Reid's advice before purchasing my first Coleman white gas lantern...he was right, it's addicting.   good

So far I've picked up 3 lanterns (200A, 220K and a 275) and a stove (413G).

200A - 1960

220K - 1981

413G - 1979

I'll post pictures of the 275 once I get it running, I believe the fuel/air tube is clogged at the moment and the lantern is torn apart.

So, post 'em if you've got 'em!

I thought I was hearing some crickets in here Big Mike! That old 200a from 1960 is my favorite for sure.  good

Here'y my next project (besides getting my 275 running, waiting on parts).

It's my dad's 220F from 1971. This was the first piece of camping gear that he actually purchased and it's been all over hell and back. Spending many nights burning all night long to provide heat in a beat up pop-up camper in Northern Wisconsin during deer season. It's spent many a nights sitting in the rain providing light for camp as well.

Dad found out I started tinkering with these old lanterns and wondered if I wanted to breathe some life back in to his. I said sure! We decided not to do a complete restoration, instead he "just wanted it to work again" so he could put it back into use. I have it pulled apart giving it a good cleaning. I am putting in a new generator, replacement globe and leather pump cup. With any luck a bit of fresh fuel and she'll fire.

I did pull the frame off and I'm going to work on cleaning the rust off of it. The rest of the lantern will just be cleaned.

I'll keep you posted on progress!

 Cool, focus ...I'll be watching.

Those 220's bring back memories of many fish and deer camps in the '70's and 80's.  good

Well I had high hopes of getting my dad's 220f back together this weekend for a test run but when the parts came in the mail, they were for the wrong lantern so it'll be a few more days. I did get the frame cleaned up and dad decided he didn't want it painted. Instead I am going to clear coat it with some high temp clear to help protect it from rust. She'll be rough around the edges but as long as it burns nice and bright, dad will be happy.

Until then though, how about this 1963 220e that showed up at my house today! I dumped out the old fuel, filled her up with fresh gas and added a set of mantles. She took right off and burns like a champ.  yahoo

I fear this bug is as bad as the Barkie bug. I've bought 2 in the last week and 1/2!  im_so_happy

Still waiting on one part for the 275 I bought as well which should also be here in a few days.

More pictures to come.

OK the parts came today and I did a little work on both my dad's old 220F and my 275.

On my dad's I replaced the generator, worked over the frame and got a large majority of the rust and corosion off, replaced the leather pump cup and replaced the missing check valve stem. Then added a little fresh fuel and a new set of mantles and she took of. Dad didn't want a new vent so I picked up a brass washer to hold her in place.

Ugly yes...working yes!  good

Initial test run...

And here's some pictures of the 275 a.k.a the "turd" in the Coleman world...

Great pictures Westy!

You're gonna get me goin' too.

I have a 220H and a 2 burner 424 stove plus a Peak1 550B and an Apex II.

Not all that old but I am kicking myself for selling an old brown Coleman lantern some years ago.
Just didn't have the room at the time.

Yep good ole days of metal hardware and rubber gaskets that worked.   locomotive

Funny you should mention coolers Mike as I have been looking to upgrade my Green Coleman... think it is called a sportsman.

I looked at the smallest 5-day Marine version they have and it seems to be better but plastic hinges and closure just not turning me on.

Well I've got a few more to share... biggrin

1963 228E to match my 1963 220E

1940 242B that needs some TLC but fired up 24 hours after getting to my garage.

1937 220B that was pretty nasty when I bought it home but cleaned up nicely

Finally my birthday lantern - a 11 of 1980 Green 200a!
